Joseph Olivieri

Joe was born in The Bronx, New York City, on July 15, 1954 to Carlo and Marion Olivieri. Joe graduated from Mount St. Michael’s with his high school diploma in 1972 and Lehman College in 1986 with a Nutrition BA. He was employed by the NYC Department of Sanitation for 20 years. In 1985 he married the love and light of his life Colleen Curry, to whom he was devoted for the nearly 31 years of their marriage. They shared many adventures together before she passed away in June of 2016.

Joseph was also preceded in death by his parents, as well as his younger brother Carlo “Gigi” Olivieri. Survivors include his older brother Richard Olivieri, his nieces Jamie and Kaitlin Olivieri, his uncle Joseph Kadir, his brother-in-law Christopher Curry, and many, many other family members and friends.

Joe will be remembered for his bright spirit, generosity, upbeat nature, unique perspective, and love for all things wild and free. He was loved and will be missed by many. The family requests that if you would like to honor Joe, please plant a tree in a place of your choosing.

A funeral mass will be held at Good Shepherd Church in Inwood, New York City at 10am on March 3, 2018, followed immediately by the interment in Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.
