Joseph Thomas Anthony, 60, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24th after suffering a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born January 20, 1954 to Raymond and Anna Brunetti Anthony in Bristol, Pa. Joe was one of six children.
Joe graduated from Pennsbury High School in Levittown, Pa in 1972 where he was involved in Track and Field.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1974-1978 on the USS Fulton sub tender stationed in Groton, Ct. Joe and Cathy married in February 1978 and moved to Pompano Beach, Florida in 1979 where they raised their daughters and he began a 28 year career with the United States Postal Service.
Joe enjoyed routing for his favorite Philadelphia sports teams and hanging out with his best buddy, Jeff, drinking Bud and watching the games. His passion was watching his daughters and grandson playing in whichever sport was in season. He enjoyed action films and favored author was Tom Clancy. He was a devoted husband and father.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Cathy and children Sandra (Robert) Walker and Lindsay Anthony; grandchildren Joseph Davis, Jenna Walker and Mackenzy Ruh ; also brothers James (Jill) and Michael (Jody) Anthony and sister Margaret Schwartz. He is predeceased by sisters Marie McCormick and Toni Mosher. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, aunts and an uncle.
A funeral mass will be held at St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 2700 NE 36 St., Lighthouse Point at 9:30 am on Friday, February 28, 2014 followed by a reception at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the Lighthouse Point Library or to the charity of your choice.
