James Thomas Mullen, 82, of Coconut Creek, Florida, formerly of Batavia, NY, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 surrounded by his wife Anna and his children at Vitas Inpatient Hospice Unit in Sunrise, FL.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Kraeer Funeral Home, 200 N. Federal Highway in Pompano Beach, FL, 33062. This will be followed by a celebration of life service at 11:15. Burial will follow at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 N State Rd 7, Lake Worth, FL 33449.
Due to restrictions of flowers at the National Cemetery, please consider a donation to hospice through Vitas Community Connection, or to Jim’s favorite charities, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or Shriners Hospitals as possible alternatives to sending flowers.

James was born February 28, 1935 in Haverhill, MA to James T and Ruth E Mullen (Mansur). He graduated from Haverhill High School in 1953 when he met Anna Bencivenga of Lawrence, MA. On June 12, 1955, they were married for 62 years until his passing. Jim enlisted in the Air Force upon graduation where he worked in the Pharmacy as an Airman First Class at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Jim and Anna raised six children and is survived by: James, Jr., wife Ann of Ft. Lauderdale; William, wife Kathleen of Pittsburgh, PA; Cheryl Wechter, husband Dennis of Coconut Creek; Timothy, deceased 2006; Anthony, wife Yvonne of Denver, CO; Michael, wife Cherrie of Wilmington, DE. Jim is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Jim was a medical products salesman and manager who loved spending time with his family and friends.
