June 12, 1934- January 31, 2018
Irene M. Dare passed peacefully on Wednesday Jan 31, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald Dare, her eldest daughter, Dr. Kimberly Dare, FNP, her son Steven Dare, his wife Trish and their two daughters Taylor and Peyton, and her youngest daughter Nicole Dare James and her children Ryan and Mia.
Born June 12, 1934 in Boston, Massachusetts to Sevario and Maria Mustone, Irene was the youngest sibling of ten. She had five brothers and four sisters and is survived by her brother John Mustone, and sisters Len D’ Avolio, Rita Shaw and numerous nieces and nephews. She graduated high school and completed business school before beginning her professional career as a stewardess with American Airlines.
Irene and Donald were married in 1958 and moved to Chicago, Illinois, where they lived for over ten years. They moved to Lighthouse Point, Florida in 1969 and opened a Western Auto business which they ran successfully for over twenty-five years. After selling their business, Irene continued her career as an Administration Manager at various companies until she eventually retired.
Irene was a loving, devoted wife and mother. She was a gracious and giving person who would do anything for her family. There was no sacrifice too great when it came to those she loved. Irene loved a good glass of wine and was quick to laugh at a joke. Spending time with her family and the ones that she loved were most important to Irene. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She enjoyed entertaining with family and friends and always had a house filled with good times and laughter. She had a wonderful personality, a great sense of humor and a strong zest for life!
Irene loved living on the ocean, spending time at the beach and enjoyed swimming in the morning. For the past 20 years, she volunteered at the Broward Performing Arts Center and the Museum of Discovery and Science. She also spent time at St. Gabriel’s church feeding the homeless.
Irene was loved by all that knew her and she will be missed. We’ve lost a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a friend, but God has gained an angel.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 2nd at 4:00 pm at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. 2700 NE 36th Street, Lighthouse Point, Florida.
