Hannah Linda McBean (nee Miller) was born in Craighead, Manchester, Jamaica, to Mary and James Miller, on the 15th day of August 1931. Linda was the ninth of ten children born to Mary and James. She attended Craighead Elementary School and Craighead School for high school. After high school, she migrated to London, England where she married Lennon Edwards and raised their child Glenroy Edwards. While raising a family, she attended the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine from 1959 to 1962 and attained her Fever Registered Nurse (FRN) certification. Then, she continued to Edgeware General where she did her post-graduate studies in General Nursing and attained her Registered Nurse (RN) certification in 1964. Thereafter, in 1966, she attained her Mid-Wifery certification at Edgeware General.
In 1966, the family migrated to the United States where she continued her nursing career with Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She was offered and accepted the position as Assistant Director of Nursing at Pelham Bay General in Bronx, New York. Concurrently, she also worked at Bronx Lebanon Hospital in Bronx, New York.
Upon the dissolution of her marriage in 1971, she continued to work at Pelham Bay General while raising her son Glenroy in Bronx, New York. In 1974, while hosting a party in her Bronx brownstone, she was introduced to Weston McBean. While they were dating, Weston’s employer transferred him to Florida. Not wanting to have a long-distance relationship, she sold her brownstone and moved to Florida with Weston in 1975. In 1978, Linda and Weston married in London, England.
Upon moving to Florida, Linda worked for the VA Hospital. Being entrepreneurs, Linda and Weston desired to be business owners. They owned and operated an Adult Congregate Living Facility, a laundromat, as well as rental properties. In line with her ambitious and entrepreneurial nature, Linda obtained her Real Estate License on October 12, 1987. She worked for Century 21 and other real estate agencies where she was a successful real estate agent. While at Century 21, Linda was recognized as the Million Dollar Seller. Linda was such a driven individual that she continued working as a real estate agent until 2020.
