Carol is survived by her mom, Olga Strickland of Mesa, AZ; husband, Bob Spitler; daughter, Holly Spitler; brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Valerie Strickland of St. Petersburg, FL and mother-in-law Peggy Spitler of Pompano Beach, FL. She is preceded in death by her father, James Strickland, of Mesa, AZ.

Carol was born on December 13, 1965 in Miami, FL to Olga and James Strickland. She graduated from St. Thomas University School of Law in 1991 with a degree of Juris Doctor. She married Robert “Bob” Spitler, a CPA, in 1995. After moving to Fort Lauderdale, Carol began working for the Law Office of the Public Defender Broward County as an Assistant Public Defender. The couple welcomed one daughter Holly Spitler into their home. Holly and Bob remember Carol as a beautiful, smart, funny and kind wife and mother who offered great love, care and encouragement.

Carol was accomplished at gymnastics and cooking and often impressed with her skills during gatherings with family and friends. She was a generous/witty/dedicated individual who loved all of the south Florida sports teams and who was passionate about community and environmental service.
