She was born in New Bedford Massachusetts on April 5, 1926.
She graduated from New Bedford high school and received a bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.
She went on to teach kindergarten for over 30 years in Connecticut, where she met her late husband, Leon E. Tracy, a former POW and P-47 fighter pilot in World War II. They remain married for 60 years until his passing in 2015
She is survived by her two children, Todd Tracy of Pompano Beach, Florida, and Amy Tracy Jacobsen of Ashland, Virginia; her grandson, Tristan Tracy Jacobsen; and great-grandson Brantley Tracy Jacobsen also from Virginia; her niece, Ann Feilhauer of Somerset, Massachusetts; her nephews, Edward Tessier of Keene, New Hampshire, and John Tessier of Bradenton, Florida.
She was a devoted, loving mother and wife and active in the Catholic faith throughout her life.
She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the south Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you just do a good deed for someone in need, to honor the way Ellen lived her life - Always Putting Others First!
