She was born to the late Charles and Florence Gentile. March 25th 1918, in Stamford, CT. Eleanor attended Stamford High School. She married the late John. S. Nichols, in 1939 and had their only son Stephen in 1941, they lived together in Stamford, CT. Eleanor was married to her second husband the late Paul Grossenbacher in 1971 until 2006. They lived in Margate Florida.
Eleanor worked at Bunker-Ramo Electronics in Stamford CT. until moving to Florida. Her real passion in life was being a Master Seamstress. She could take apiece of fabric and just about turn into anything fashionable. She would make Paul’s shirts, Slacks and fix or alter any family of friends clothing without question or charge. One of her real talents was to search thrift shops for Quality Fabrics that she could create from scratch or alter into something very fashionable for herself and others. Some of her designs were totally original.
Eleanor love to travel in the US and lived in Pasadena CA. with her husband John and son for several years; and finally ending up in Florida. She often said the Hi-light of her travels were going to Israel in the late 8o’s with her second husbands sister Jackie Grossenbacher . She was no stranger to many Cruise ship tours with Paul and family, with the added kick of a little gambling and a few cocktails. Even in her advanced age she loved to have a good time with friends and family.
In Eleanor’s later years her Church services remained with the TV minister Joel Oldsteen, of which she personally meet on his book tour in Fort Lauderdale, FL. in 2009. She was personally thrilled to meet him because she always admired his uplifting ministry.
Eleanor is survived by her son Stephen Nichols, Her sister Viola Aiello and her brother Lawrence F. Gentile; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of Flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to any Charity you may desire.
A memorial service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pompano Beach, FL. on Saturday February 9th at 11:00 AM
