Ed was born June 24, 1947, in Edgewater, Fla., the youngest of four children of William Irving and Verlie Mae Norris. He was raised in New Smyrna Beach and Delray Beach.
He worked for many years as a carpenter and then as a flower delivery person. and delivered the Pelican newspaper and a newsletter for the town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea.
Ed married Judy Vik in 1987, and they lived in Fort Lauderdale and then in Pompano Beach for the past 26 years.
Among his passions was playing the guitar, and he was a self-taught, accomplished musician. He helped to raise numerous stray cats.
Surviving are his wife Judy; daughter Sandra Norris; son Terry; three grandchildren, Kristopher Echols, Jerrod Carroll and Jada Nelson and three great-grandchildren; his brother Steven and sister-in-law Marty; sister Nellie Baines; sister-in-law Shirley Norris; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Karen and David Onstad; and sister-in-law Carolyn Vik.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Vance; brothers-in-law Fred Baines and Robert Vik.
Ed was a member of Cross Community Church of South Florida.
A celebration of life is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 with visitation at 10 a.m. at Kraeer Funeral Home, 200 W. Copans Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Cross Community Church or to the Broward Humane Society.
