My name is Julia I attend Del Mar Middle School. We are doing a summative assignment, it is called The Social Issues Project. I choose teen suicides as my topic.  I struggled throughout my life, with trying to get up in the morning but I got better so I wanted to do this topic. I was looking on safari and Found Colin Charles Happ I did more research and found photos and descriptions of him, I would like to tell whoever’s reading this that I will be informing my classmates and peers about your son. I am truly very sorry, he sounded like a wonderful boy.

my dearest colin, I wish i could just call you again and just tell you everything that has happened in the last couple months without you here. i miss you, so very much and its so hard without you here. everything is so hard now. i havent heard someone say "fishy" in forever!! i started laughing less, because no one can make me crack up like you would do to me. i miss you day and day every single day colin. the question is, why? whyd you do it? i will never know. i miss seeing you in the halls at calvary everyday, and you walking me to my classes. we were in seperatable and every one knew that. One great memory of me and Colin was when I was on FaceTime with him and we stayed up till 3:00 am talking about what we were going to be when we grow up then Colin made the most funniest joke and I laughed too much. I miss you, and I love you. 

Colin was an amazing kid. I went to school with him at WA and CCA, we became best friends at the beginning of the year, and he was in 4 /8 of my classes. He'd always try and sit by me and we'd talk all class and we'd get yelled at a ton. We used to make fun of each other and he'd call me nicknames all the time and id try and come up with insults. His smile made me smile and was the reason school was fun. I truly loved him with everything in me. The last thing he said to me was "love you" I miss him more and more everyday and there's a hole in my heart where he was. I miss you happy meal, and I love you.

I would like to extend my deepest prayers and love to the Happ family. I’ve known Colin for several years. I met him at WA and we have had a strong friendship ever since. I saw him everyday at school and it brought me great joy to see him laugh and smile. He was in almost all my classes and sat next to me in most of them. The last year Colin was at WA, he sat behind me in math. He always used to decorate my braids with pencils and markers. It used to make him laugh in happiness and seeing him laugh made me laugh in happiness as well. I miss him so so much! I’m heartbroken. I have always loved him and I always will. He was an absolutely amazing individual, athlete, and good friend. My precious Colin, I love you so much and you will forever be in my heart and the hearts of the many who knew you! I’ve only known him for a year and he was truly amazing. I would see him more than once a week. I remember the first time I went on his boat all of us had so much fun we where on the ocean for hours that was my best memory but every day I would see him a we would make a memory. I met colin this year, and when he came in I automatically knew he was so sweet, his smile just brightened the room and made everyone around him smile. It’s a huge loss but I know he is somewhere so much better 🥺

I’ve known Colin since 4th grade and when I heard the news I was so sad. When Colin and I were in 7th grade I became good friends with him and I had lots of classes with him and we would always laugh with each other and call each other names and he would make me so happy. Colins smile was like nobody else’s. It was the best smile and it would make me so happy. Colin was such a good friend to me and others and he cared about others a lot too. Colin had such a good personality also he was very funny and nice. I’m going to miss him so much. Ily forever ❤️

Colin was an amazing kid.  I've known Colin for 5 years.  It is so sad to now know that he didn't reach out to friends. I wish he would have talked about what he was going through.  I really miss him a lot and wish that I could have helped him. Rest in peace Colin and God please take care of the Happ family.

I haven’t known Colin for a very long time, but we started to become good friends. He sat next to me in English and we talked a lot.  We had 3 other classes together. He was a nice, funny, and just an all-out great person to be around. He was always smiling and happy. I will miss that smile! Fly High Colin 🕊



It is with deep regret that I say I did not know Colin that well. He was in my Math class. Even though we only shared 1 single class together, he could brighten my day with 1 joke, or smile, or laugh. Every math class, he'd make the funniest jokes, we would all be laughing. When somebody would call out the answers, he would ask a lot of them to be repeated just because it was funny. I think we'd spend the first 15 minutes of class just going over the same answers. The last Friday before his passing was the last time I saw Colin Happ. I looked over at him in Math and we would just stare at each other and smile. Just thinking of that day makes my heartache. That was the last day I'll ever see him smile. 
But that's what I loved most about him. He was such a bright and joyful person. I should've asked him how he was doing. 

Colin, I don't know how I am going to smile without seeing you. Without hearing your voice. Without your presence.

My prayers and condolences. I hope you know how special Colin was to so many people and that he will never be forgotten.

When Colin first heard that I was leaving CCA, first thing he told me was that he'll miss our long in class texts and exposing me in history class. Everyday we would walk to history and english together, trying to flat tire each other and calling each others names. We were inseperable. One time, our english teacher had to put each of us in one corner of the room just to keep up from talking to each other. He has been the best friend i could ever ask for. even after i left cca, we would facetime for hours on end and everytime, he would have his precious blue jacket on. last thing he told me was i love you and dont worry, we'll always be best friends, even if we're seperated.  i would give anything to see just his smile again. im praying for the happ family ❤️

Colin was a gift to all that got to know him. He was a strong soul who loved the outdoors. He especially loved his time in the Colorado mountains. He always offered to help out if something needed to be done. We will always remember his shining light, fly high Colin.

When I heard the news about what happened I couldn't even breathe. I still can't believe that any of this is real. Colin was one of my best friends and one of the only people I trusted fully. He was so caring and funny and has always been there for me. I just wish that I could've been there for him when he needed it.

I didn’t get to know Collin very well but he was my teammate for the LHP soccer season.  He was a great teammate and kept his cool no matter what was going on. You will be missed bro. Fly High.

Colin was such a great friend he was so nice and fun to hang out with. We would always ride bikes together and play football and basketball. Although we weren’t really close you were still really nice to me and one of the things you always did was wear your blue hoodie. Fly high Colin

Colin Happ was one of the sweetest, funniest, and trust worthy people I know. When I heard the news I couldn’t breathe  I could barely speak the only words I could make out were “why Colin”. Although me and Colin weren’t best friends over the last month we stared to get close since we had 2 classes together. Then out of nowhere he started calling me mom didn’t know why but I went along with it. From then on he was my son, my son deserved so much more than this, I miss him and love him. My heart goes out to his family.

Dear Happ Family,
Words cannot express how sorry I am for the loss of your sweet Colin. I am honored that I had the pleasure of knowing Colin and that I got to be his teacher. I enjoyed his bright smile, sweet spirit and fun sense of humor on a daily basis for two years. (His favorite joke in Earth Science  was "pink sand.") Everyone enjoyed his friendship and he was a bright spot in our day. We will miss him so much. Thinking of you all and lifting you up in prayer.

During 7th Grade, Colin used to wear his sweatshirt over his head and attack people during Lunch. Colin was an amazing friend and he made unforgettable experiences. I truly believe I or anyone else will never find anyone to replace Colin. You left too soon bro! Love you man!

I would like to say that colin was such a good friend to me and regardless if he was having a bad day or not he would always be happy, I pray that Colins parents can be comforted during this time because  it is hard for them, I’m gonna tell the world that I knew colin happ, I would write so many more things and this would be a really long paragraph but due to limit if word I can’t. Colin and I wouldn’t talk that much, but he would always be smiling, laughing. I had the privilege to be in 2 of his classes. In every math class I would turn around. And he would always be laughing! He was such a kind kid and I wish I could of got closer to him. He will forever be in my heart. Rest easy Colin 🕊❤️

Colin and I start getting close on 10/26/19. We were inseparable. we both promised each other we would be best friends forever. we would facetime every single night from 10/26 to now. every one knew we were super close. i loved him with everything i had. i will love him forever and ever. he’s perfect. and he decided to leave this earth. he is never forgotten by me. he is loved so much. i miss him more and more every. single. day.  The last thing he said to me was “Bye ilu”. I’m never going to be able to tell him what i wanted to ever tell him. i’m never going to be able to call him or see him in the halls ever again. my life is empty without my best friend. i miss you colin so much.

You know me and Colin started talking in the Bahamas and I just sat next in the bus because I’ve notice him but never talked to him and I promise you every time I talked to him or me and Colin were just having fun he was alway smiling and making people laugh and he was a amazing friend and amazing son I’m so glad I knew who Colin happ was. 

My 8th-grade year was better with colin there, when he walked in the room his smile made the room light up. He was a great friend. we didn't get that close but knowing that he was around always made me smile. He was a happy, fun, and amazing friend. I will see him again and he is in a better place watching over us. On the day of his death before it happened, Jadyn and I were looking at pictures of him and gizmo talking about our favorite memories of him. I will be praying for his family and close friends.

Colin and I were wonderful friends at WA. I honestly can’t remember a time when he wasn’t smiling. His smile would always make my day and every time he walked into a room he would be like a breath of fresh air.  Colin was an amazing athlete and had so many great talents. colin because my best friend in the beginning of 8th grade at cca, we kinda drifted but then we became best friends again, he was always there for me. he was the sunshine on my rainy days, he said to me “don’t worry, i’ll never leave you” and he kept that promise. he’s still with all us, maybe not physically but he’s in our hearts and i will continue to love him forever. colin happ was the best person to ever come into my life, he would always be to my right, with me 24/7.
