Betty attended secretarial school at Bryant College in Rhode Island, where she honed skills that she carried throughout her life. In 1955, she married Dudley D. Nye and together they built a life filled with love and adventure. They initially settled in Philadelphia, where their son Charles was born. In 1959, the family moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where they made their permanent home.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Dudley and their daughter Grace S. Nye. She is survived by her sons Alfred (and his wife Tian), Gregory, and Charles (and his wife Susana), as well as her cherished grandson Christopher.
As a devoted mother, Betty dedicated herself to raising her four children, who spanned 11 years in age. In the 1970s and 1980s, she embraced her love for performing arts by creating a Hawaiian dance act with her children Gregory and Grace. Their performances brought joy to many in local restaurants and apartment complexes.
Betty had a deep love for animals and shared her home with many pet birds and cats over the years. Her nurturing spirit extended to all creatures, great and small.
Services to celebrate Betty’s life will be held at Kraeer Funeral Home at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens North in Pompano Beach on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and will forever be remembered for her warmth, creativity, and unwavering love for her family.
