Shaver, Mary Eleanor (Grant)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eleanor Shaver, our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on January 10, 2023. She was in her 91st year.

Born on September 26, 1932, in Montreal, Eleanor was the devoted and loved daughter of the late Anne and Daniel Grant. Dear sister of the late Rev. D. Ian Grant and sister-in-law of Carol Grant.

Eleanor was the dearly beloved wife and best friend of the late Bill Shaver (1995), with whom she shared almost 40 years of married life in Pointe Claire. She missed him greatly and we are comforted to know that they are together once again.

Eleanor was the dearly loved mother and mother- in- law of Anne and Andre, Rick and Jane, Lynn and Cam, Allison and Nick, Catherine and Tim, Pam and Kevin.

Proud and loving grandmother of Eric (Eden), Nick (Renee), Scott, Vanessa (Chris), Ben, Katie (Matt), Jill (Dave), Bridget, Courtney (Robbie), Ayleigh, Olivia, Rebecca, Hanna, Evan, Matheson, Griffin and Brighton.

Loving great grandmother of Mikaela, Lexanna, Augustus, Gavin and Harvey , Samantha and Philip, Lily and Harrison and Jack.

Eleanor lived a full life that included her passion of learning and volunteering in many domains. When her children were grown, she returned to Concordia University and completed her degree. Eleanor was most happy when surrounded by her dearly loved family.

Eleanor truly has left a wonderful legacy with her 6 children, 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, instilling good values and a zest for life. She will be extremely missed and forever in our hearts.

Eleanor’s children would like to express their deepest thanks and appreciation to Nina and Katherine, for the love, care and kindness that they provided Eleanor over the last 11 months.

A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, January 15 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Collins Clarke Funeral Home, 222 Autoroute 20, Pointe Claire. A celebration of Eleanor’s life will be held at St. Columba by-the -Lake Presbyterian Church in Pointe Claire, 11 Rodney Ave., Pointe Claire on Monday, January 16 at 11:00 a.m.
