It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved sister, Sandra, has passed away. She was the devoted sister to Ron (Lyse Morin) of Laval, Quebec and CarolAnne (Steve Becroft) of Salem, Massachusetts. By far her most cherished family were her two nephews, Christian (Amanda) Ulmer of Waltham, MA and Cameron Ulmer (Peter) of Burlington, Vermont. Recently, her great niece Melanie Ulmer was born and Sandra would have been the same adoring great-aunt to her as she was to her nephews, Christian and Cameron.
Sandra is pre-deceased by her mother and father, Gertrude (Bergeron) and Victor Hale and by her long -time friend, Fleming Mackell.
Sandra graduated from the Notre Dame Secretarial School, known familiarly as The Mother House, in the late 1960's and worked as an executive administrative assistant until her early retirement at Smith Transport and CanPac International Freight Services. She later became an accountant and worked in that capacity until 2017. Sandra was a meticulous organizer and had a winning personality that made all who knew her feel supported and loved.
She had no children of her own but was a caring 'mom' to Fleming Mackell's children and all of her friends' children. She was Auntie Sandra. There is no other fitting name.
Sandra was the most kind, loving, and loyal friend, sibling and aunt. She was a caretaker by nature and gave entirely of herself to those that she knew. She suffered stoically with early onset Alzheimer's and to the end of her days she was soft hearted and kind. We remember her vibrant blue eyes and her ready smile. She will be missed by so many.
Her family expresses their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the CHSLD Ste. Dorothée facility for their steadfast care and consideration of Sandra. Special thanks to the nurses and aides of the 1st floor who treated her gently and lovingly.
A Catholic service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 2nd at Eglise St. Joachim, 2 Avenue Ste Anne, Pointe-Claire, Quebec, with a visitation beginning at 10 am at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Quebec (https://societealzheimer.ca).
