August 3, 1928 - November 26, 2010 Ardelle Scott died peacefully on November 26 at Lakeshore General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late William B. Scott, Jr., and the mother of Thomas Scott (who died in infancy), Andrew Scott (Nicole Boivin), William A. Scott (Yvonne Iten-Scott) and Bruce Bryant-Scott (Frances Bryant-Scott). She was a devoted grandmother to Alex & Katie Boivin-Scott, Caitlin, Bronwyn, Theodora, & Isabella Iten-Scott, and Sophia & Wystan Bryant-Scott. The daughter of the late Hollis and Hazel Burns, she is survived by her brother Fred Burns (Mary-Lou Burns) of Lennoxville, QC, and Daphne Henderson (Charles Henderson) of Perth, ON; she was predeceased by her brother Hollis Burns, Jr.(Betty Burns). Also, she was the sister-in-law and dear friend of Violet Scott (George Scott) of Peterborough, ON. Ardelle was born on the family farm in Island Brook, QC, and graduated from Bishop's University with a BA and BEd, subsequently teaching in schools in the Eastern Townships and Eastern Passage, NS. At Bishop's she met her future husband, Bill Scott, married him in 1950, and, as a teacher, helped to put him through engineering school. She followed and supported him in his career in the pulp and paper industry, living in Windsor Mills QC, Grand-Mere QC, Bathurst NB, Gayton, Merseyside, and London, England. She devoted her life to raising her children and making a home for herself and her husband. Following Bill's death in 1992 she returned to Quebec in 1995, and resided in Beaconsfield. In the last 15 years she enjoyed being at the crossroads of many friends and relatives, and rejoiced in seeing her eight grandchildren grow up. The family will hold visitation at: between 1 and 3 p.m. on Thursday December 2, 2010. A celebration of her life will take place in Montreal in the spring of 2011, with interment at Union Cemetery in Grand-Mere, QC. The family wishes to thank the staff of Le Vivalis seniors residence and the staff of Lakeshore General Hospital for the care they have given Ardelle. Donations in her memory may be made to the Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation.
