Born on September 30th, in Snow Road, Ontario, Lois was married to her late husband Donald (Don) for 55 years and together they raised their three children in Valois, Quebec.
Lois grew up in a loving family in Brighton, Ontario. She excelled at school, always at the top of her class. Lois and Don’s love story began when they met by chance and from the moment they sat down at the piano, they knew it was meant to be.
Due to the war, they were apart for three years but kept in touch by writing love letters. When the war ended, Lois married Don, the love of her life.
Valois United Church was a big part of Lois’ life. She enjoyed volunteering, joined church committees and made many lifelong friends. Lois loved her bridge clubs and played well into her 90’s. Some of her happiest memories were made at the family cottage in North Hatley. Lois and Don found such joy in music; dancing and playing piano together. Their singalongs are fondly remembered by family and friends….. stretching from Valois to Montebello to Florida.
Lois and Don’s move to Montebello fulfilled a dream - a house on the golf course. As avid golfers, they had 28 years to golf and enjoy the social life.
When Don passed away, Lois moved back to Pointe Claire and spent 11 happy years at Le Wellesley.
She was pleased to reconnect with so many of her dear friends. Lois remained very active, playing piano at several seniors residences, volunteering with Meals on Wheels and chauffeuring her friends around. In later years, she adored being surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lois will be greatly missed by her three children, Douglas (Sharon), Barbara (Phil) and David; five grandchildren, Amy (Ashley), Janis (Jesse), Wendy (Mark), Michael (Julie) and Tim; and five great grandchildren, Logan, Caden, Ivy Lois, Rhys and Theo, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Mom/Nonny was our anchor, brave and strong. We will miss her warmth and beautiful smile. “ But I know we'll meet again some sunny day” (Vera Lynn).
Heartfelt gratitude for the wonderful, caring staff at Le Wellesley, Ste. Anne’s Hospital and the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence.
Plans are being made for a small family memorial at a later date. Contributions in Lois’ memory may be made to Valois United Church or the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence.
