It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bette Horan on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the Royal Victoria Hospital, after a brief illness. Family was by her side. Bette is predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Peter James Horan. She is the beloved mother of Peter M. Horan (Diane) and Patricia Horan and cherished Grandma of Peter F. Horan (Kimberly), Thomas Trepanier (Victoria), Nicholas Horan (Georgina) and Bridget Trepanier (Derek Crittenden). She adored her great grandchildren Quinn, Gavin and Gillian. She is also the treasured aunt of Diane Williams Campbell (Barry) and good friend of Philip Amabili.
Bette was born in Montreal to Daisy Ethel Williams and James Thomas Anderson in 1928. She was predeceased by brothers, Henry, John and James and sister, Daisy.
She was an accomplished artist who truly enjoyed sharing her paintings with friends and family, particularly creating special works of art for her great grandchildren. In the summer months, she was an active member of the Pointe Claire Lawn Bowling Club. She was also a committed volunteer up to her 89th year. She delivered library books to senior citizens who were not able to get out on their own, as well as, helping at the Lachine General Hospital on the geriatric ward. With a twinkle in her eye, Bette liked to say, “I enjoy helping out with the old folks”.
Visitation will be held at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Homes, 222 autoroute 20, Pointe Claire, Quebec on Wednesday May 23 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A memorial service will take place in the chapel on Thursday, May 24 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to NOVA West Island or a charity of your choice.
