Lee was born in Windsor, Ont. After serving in the Second World War, he studied civil engineering at McGill University. His work years were spent throughout Quebec, where he helmed many bridge and dam projects.
With his first wife, Mary Giroux Cousineau, Lee had three children: Martha Perusse (Bernie), Anne Wisenbaugh (Steve) and Raymond Cousineau (d. 2018). Sadly, Mary succumbed to cancer in 1968.
In 1972, Lee married Kathleen (Kay) Thompson (d. 2023), with whom he shared 51 wonderful years. They were active in golf (Beaconsfield Golf Club), skiing and travelling.
Aside from his children, he leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Lisa Perusse (Jake Shenker) and Nick Perusse. He was “Papapa” to his two great-grandchildren, Ian and Jamie, and never tired of hearing stories about them and enjoying the latest photos. He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews in Montreal, Ontario and the United States.
Lee spent his last years at the Ste Anne de Bellevue Veteran’s Hospital, where he was cared for by a devoted staff.
The funeral will take place Friday, April 11 at 11 am at St. Edmund of Canterbury Church in Beaconsfield. The family will welcome visitors at the church starting at 10:15 am. A reception in the church hall will follow the ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Montreal Oral School For the Deaf.
