Predeceased by her first husband Robert (Bert) Walker of Pointe-Claire Québec. Left to mourn her loss are her step-son Robin Walker (Wendy McDonald), step-daughter Susan Walker (Jim Doyle) and step-son Jeff Walker (Anne Michaels) and step-grandchildren Daniel and Timothy Walker, Kevin and Jennifer Doyle, Rebecca and Evan Michaels-Walker.
Predeceased by her second husband Norman Chandler of Beaconsfield, Québec. Left to mourn her loss are her step-daughter Carol Chandler (John de Sévigné) and step-son Blair Chandler (Christiane Chauvin) and step-grandchildren Claire and Micheal de Sévigné and Ryan and Patrick Chandler.
Also survived by her nephews and nieces, Robert and Andrew Graham, Anne Lake, Suzanne and Murielle Cadieux and Diane and Marc Poirier.
Laurette began her working career with Bell Canada, eventually becoming the president of the union representing female employees. In retirement she worked as a volunteer for UNICEF Canada, travelling to South Africa and South America where she supervised the installation of water supplies for small villages. A passionate traveller, she visited six continents with Norman during their retirement together.
The family would like to offer our grateful thanks to Alice, Kim, Barbara and Isabelle. Their loving and dedicated care made it possible for Laurette to remain in her own home until the end.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 21st from 11:00 to noon at the Centre Funéraire Côte-des-Neiges, 4525 chemin Côte-des-Neiges, Montréal, QC. H3V 1E7. A reception will follow. Interment will take place at 14:30 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, 701 Donegani Avenue, Pointe-Claire.

C’est avec une immense tristesse que nous vous annonçons le décès de Laurette Poirier survenu le 4 novembre 2019 à Westmount. Née à Montréal elle a vécu à Pointe-Claire et Beaconsfield.
Épouse en premières noces de Robert (Bert) Walker de Pointe-Claire. Elle laisse son beau-fils Robin Walker (Wendy McDonald), sa belle-fille Susan Walker (Jim Doyle) et son beau-fils Jeff Walker (Anne Michaels) et ses petits-enfants Daniel et Timothy Walker, Kevin et Jennifer Doyle, Rebecca et Evan Michaels-Walker.
Épouse en deuxièmes noces de Norman Chandler de Beaconsfield. Elle laisse sa belle-fille Carol Chandler (John de Sévigné) et son beau-fils Blair Chandler (Christiane Chauvin) et ses petits-enfants Claire et Michael de Sévigné, Ryan et Patrick Chandler.

Laurette a commencé sa carrière chez Bell Canada pour ensuite devenir présidente du syndicat représentant le personnel féminin. A sa retraite elle a fait du bénévolat pour l’UNICEF Canada et s’est rendue en Afrique et en Amérique du Sud pour superviser l’approvisionnement en eau potable. Grande voyageuse elle a visité les six continents avec Norman.
La famille tient à remercier Alice, Kim, Barbara et Isabel qui grâce à leurs bons soins ont permis à Laurette de rester à la maison jusqu’à la fin.
La famille recevra les condoléances jeudi le 21 novembre de 11 heures à midi au centre funéraire Côte-des-Neiges au 4525 chemin Côte-des-Neiges, Montréal, Québec H3V 1E7. Une réception suivra.
L’enterrement aura lieu à 14:30 au cimetière Lakeview Mémorial Gardens 701 avenue Donegani, Pointe-Claire.
