Born July 13, 1940, George was a lifelong Montrealer and dedicated family man. George had many cherished friendships that were actively maintained from childhood, others developed while raising a family, and still others created in retirement. A graduate of Montreal West High School and Sir George Williams University, George enjoyed a successful career, mostly with CP Rail, distinguishing himself in management within their pulp and paper division. A larger than life figure, George was generous of spirit and always willing to give of himself to help a friend. He was also willing to contribute his unwavering opinion on any subject that interested him, usually starting with his infamous question, “What are ya’ talkin’?” You knew you were in for a challenging conversation when you heard that line. George loved being active, both at home and in his beloved Myrtle Beach, his home away from home. An avid kayaker and tennis player, George also enjoyed skiing, biking and travelling. He was one of “the originals” of the Beaconsfield Men’s Slo-Pitch league, in which he was known as the “Silver Fox”. In his later years, George’s pride and joy were his two lovely granddaughters.
George is predeceased by his parents Clarence and Gertrude Morris, and his loving wife of 43 years, Sandie. He leaves behind his children Richard, Kari (Scott), Jen, his grandchildren Kiara and Olivia, and his adoring companion Patty.
The family would like to convey its heartfelt appreciation for the compassionate care provided by the specialists from the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital, as well his neighbours and friends.
Visitation will be held at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home, 222 Highway 20 (Cartier Exit 49) Pointe Claire, Quebec on October 30, 2020 from 10am-2pm.
A celebration of his life will follow at 2:30pm at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, 701 Donegani Avenue, Pointe-Claire.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Fondation de l’Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont would be appreciated.
