Carole Thomas passed away peacefully on March 31, 2023 at the age of 86.
Carole was born on February 26, 1937 to Cora and Charles. She always expressed great love and gratitude for the time that she shared with her parents, adored brother, Buddy and large extended family. In her earlier years, she ventured to New York where she worked in a bakery - giving her even more stories to share (and some truly unique “one liners” that became a regular part of her vocabulary and shared with only those she truly loved).
Upon her return to Montreal to care for her mother, Carole quickly found an extended community and became chosen family to many. She gained much joy from the congregation at Ephraim Scott Memorial Church, singing in the choir, and serving on the Board of Managers and as an Elder on Session. Carole also loved her many activities in the 50 Plus club where she lead dancing classes and organized trips and other events. Her coffee dates, meals shared with friends and daily phone calls continued to bring her happiness and connection with her numerous friends in the NDG area.
Though her last couple of years were difficult as she went for dialysis treatments, hers was a life to be remembered and celebrated.
Many thanks to the doctors and staff of the St. Mary Hospital Dialysis Unit for ensuring her last 5 years were filled with care. The support and love shown by her friends and the congregation at Montreal West United Church brought her a sense of great peace in her final days.
It is our faith and our sure hope that through God’s great love and mercy, Carole’s life has not ended but has reached a new horizon that is just beyond our sight and we offer our heartfelt prayers for her as she makes her journey home.
We will miss Carole, but we will continue to feel her presence in our lives and in our community.
We love and will miss you always,
Alison, Dan, Jack and Leo
A service to celebrate Carole’s life will be held at a later date and details will be sent out later.
