Robert W Allen

Marian and Robert (Bob) Allen recently passed away on February 8th, 2020 and March 8th, 2020 respectively. They were both 96 years young-at-heart, and were married for 73 years. They met and married in 1946, when he was a Captain with Eastern Airlines and she was a stewardess with a crush on him. He flew for 40 years, and was the number one, most senior Captain for Eastern upon his retirement. They both lived long lives full of love, family, friends and world travel, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved them.

Marian and Bob were “Mama and Daddy” to three daughters who drove them crazy as teenagers, but as adults loved them fiercely: Diana Allen Briggs,(Randy); Nancy Allen Schwaderer,(Bruce Nisula); and Merrily Allen Goering.

They were “Mumu and Papa” to six grandchildren, who they adored: Abbie Raurell,(Carlos); Maggie Horty,(Sean); Bo Briggs, (Nadia); Allison Magamoll,(Travis); Colby George,(Andrew); Whitney Goering, and they were pre-deceased by a beloved grandson, Scott R. Goering. They also loved and left nine great-grandchildren: Cullen, Finley and Avery Briggs; Elise and Eve Raurell; Clark and Marian Horty; and Briggs and Tucker Magamoll.

Marian and Bob travelled the world on planes, trains and boats after his retirement, and loved the people and places that they visited. He collected airmail stamps and she learned and spoke French, Italian, Russian and Greek. When they weren’t traveling, they spent beautiful days at their beach, collecting shells, flying kites and building sandcastles with their children. Lots of Christmases were with family, all dressed up, at their favorite Beach Club, and Thanksgivings were at their daughters’ homes with Bloody Marys outside, and food, fun and laughter inside.
