Frederick Joseph Martin, 95, of Dania Beach, Florida passed away October 3, 2017. Fred was born February 2, 1922 in Caribou, ME, the son of Joseph W. and Sophie Martin. Fred served in the US Navy during World War II from 1943 - 1945. He was employed by the Hartford Insurance Group for 37 years, and retired in 1984, in Hartford, CT. Fred was a Life Member of VFW Post 109 Ellsworth, ME. He was also a member of American Legion Post 304, Dania Beach, FL. Earlier in Fred's Career, he and his wife "Peg" owned and operated "The Homeport" in Searsport, ME, where Fred's extraordinary culinary skills were displayed and enjoyed. He was an amazing chef, and enjoyed great food and loving people. In his retirement, Fred made exotic wood furniture for his family, and also supplied museum quality oil paintings that he painted for all to enjoy. Fred moved to Dania Beach, FL in September 2001 to be close to his son Jules, they enjoyed many trips together, to Germany, New Orleans, Key West and to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Fred was predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret "Peg" in May 1996, they were married 41 years and raised three sons, who survive him: F. Jullien (Jules) with Diane Collins of Hollywood, FL; John J. and his wife Yumi and grandchildren Amy and Alex of Bremerton, WA; W. Paul and his granddaughter Stephanie of Cromwell, CT along with two beautiful great granddaughters Sophie and Karlie. He is also survived by brother William of Fullerton, CA as well as several nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by brothers Clifton, Philip and Raymond, and sisters Evelyn Judy Riley, Frances Busby, and Regina Burk. Funeral arrangements provided by the Neptune Society - Fort Lauderdale, with services to be held at Resurrection Roman Catholic Church, 441 NE 2nd Street in Dania Beach on Saturday November 11th at 10:00 AM.
