Billy was a NASCAR-watching, Publix sweet tea-drinking Daddy/Papa who loved his family. He handcrafted rocking horses, toy boxes, and wooden trains. He planted orange trees for each of his grandchildren, loved taking care of his yard, and driving his boys on the “beep beep.” Billy never missed a game, a concert, or an awards ceremony. He coached baseball and taught Sunday School.
Billy served his country in the Air Force (’57-’61) and the Navy (’62-‘64). He was retired from People’s Gas/TECO. He would have been married to his sweetheart Jean for 60 years this New Years Eve.
He left this world full of jokes, drinking his beloved Pepsi, and controlling the TV remote and surrounded by his family. Billy knew where he was going and was ready to meet Jesus.
Billy was preceded in death by his father, Bernice O’Neal Brinson, stepfather Walter Pierce, Mother Willie Mae Pierce, and sister Opal Brinkley. He is survived by his wife Irma Jean Shepherd Brinson, daughter Kelly Andreu (Alan), son Kevin Brinson (Marianne), grandchildren Jordan Sherman (Evan), Riley Andreu, Kenlee Andreu, Jackson Brinson, Peyton Brinson and two great-grandsons Jameson Sherman and Lincoln Sherman. Also, his brother E.J. "Jay" Brinson (Linda), sister Shirley Ross, stepbrother Henry Pierce, and multiple nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will occur over lunch at Bethany Baptist Church Fellowship Hall (3409 Cork Road, Plant City, FL) on September 21, 2024, from 12pm - 2 pm.
