He was the oldest of three sons born to Victor and Ruth Yeager. Tom spent his formative years in Bridgeport, Ohio. He attended West Virginia University where he received his Bachelors of Music, Masters of Music and ABD PhD of Music. He married Shirley Shingleton in 1959 and they had 2 children, David Yeager and Deborah Perry. He also has 2 grandchildren, Brittany Perry and Alexaundra Perry, a daughter in law Denese Yeager, and son in law Raymond Perry.
Tom and Shirley arrived in Bindlach, Germany in 1960 where he spent 4 years serving as an officer and tank commander, club officer, and assistant adjutant in the U.S. Army. After arriving back to the states, he finished his masters, and was hired as a high school band director in Garret county Maryland. In his spare time he completely built out the shell of their first home including plumbing, electrical and floors. He did a magnificent job! He then was to move on to Frostburg Maryland to become a music professor at Frostburg University where he spent the next 20 years conducting the university orchestra. Also during this time he directed the United Methodist Church choir. (A very busy guy) From there he had a brief stint in Morgantown West Virginia and then headed to Tampa, Florida to finish his teaching career in Hillsborough County. For his final chapter he was to move to Plant City, Florida, there he supervised (on his terms) the building of his last home. Following retirement he continued to teach a few private lessons and happily watched the grass grow with his dog Sami.
He will be laid to rest in the Florida National Cemetery for Veterans in Bushnell, Florida.
