Samuel Theodore Ward, born on February 16, 1928, passed away March 12, 2019. He completed his education earning a B.A. degree in religion in January 1967. He also attended Samford University in Birmingham, AL and Seminary Extensions of Preaching, Inverness, FL in 1984.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army for six years beginning in 1946 in both Germany and Korea.
He surrendered to call in 1952 and became licensed to preach in 1953. He was ordained in 1956, requested by Bethel Baptist Church near Brooksville FL. He was married to his loving wife Rose Sharon Corbitt in February, 1956.
During his career he was honored to serve in the following churches, Bethel Baptist, Southside mission of Glen Iris Baptist Church, New Prospect Baptist, Oak Grove Baptist, Republic Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, First Baptist Church, Floral City, FL (17 years), River Gardens Baptist Church and the Indian Hill Baptist Church. He preached in 75 different churches in Alabama and Florida during the time he wasn’t in his own church. He and his wife relocated to Spring Hope, NC in 2000 and joined Holy Grove Baptist as members.
He was predeceased by two of his children, Charles Daniel and Robert Michael Ward. He is survived by his wife Rose Sharon, David Theodore and Latricia Ann Messer. He also leaves his grandchildren, David T. Ward Jr., Jared Ward, Mary Keezel, Benjamin Ward, Nicole Messer and Seth Vanorder, Nathan Messer, Josh and Jennifer Messer as well as Justin and Amanda Messer. In addition, he is survived by his great-grandchildren, Finnley Ward, Gabriel VanOrder, Julian VanOrder, Justin Messer Jr., Hannah Messer, Lane Messer, Annabella Messer and Haylee Messer.
