Morgan, Joyce H., 85 of Plant City, passed away Friday, January 3, 2025. Joyce was born in Thibodaux, Louisiana and always maintained a close connection to her Cajun roots and relatives. She is survived by son, Fr. Thomas T. Morgan, Jr., Rector of St. Jude Cathedral in St. Petersburg; daughter, Kelly (Tim) Kearney of Plant City; son, Michael Morgan of Bushnell; sister, Carolyn (Barry-deceased) Foret of Plant City; brother, Leo (Meryl) Roundtree of Spokane, WA; grandchildren, Steven (Amanda) Ray, Christopher Kearney, Katie (Eiron) Sanchez, Jack (Nicci) Morgan, Tommy Morgan, and Elani Hudson; great grandchildren, Lucas Ray, Jacob Ray, Atreus Morgan, Haydn Lambert, Raevyn Brown, and Michaela Brown; and a large, deeply loved extended family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, Thomas Morgan, Sr.; daughter, Geri Morgan; grandmother, Camelia Ponvelle; mother, Inez Roundtree; brothers Paul (Linda-deceased) Roundtree and Roy Roundtree.
Joyce had numerous interests. She loved baking, dollmaking, gardening and writing stories. She had a true creative spirit!
She was actively involved in church ministry throughout her life, both as a volunteer and later professionally. Prior to moving to Plant City in the mid 1970’s, Joyce was a committed parishioner of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Tampa. There she served in many ways, including leading a Girl Scout troop. After moving to Plant City, she continued in church ministry at St. Clement Catholic Church by serving in Youth Ministry and Religious Education. She was later hired as the Director of Religious Education for St. Stephen Catholic Church in Riverview and served there until her retirement.
Joyce will be remembered for her incredible sense of humor, her generosity, and her deep love of her family and friends.
A Visitation will take place at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2025, followed by a Funeral Mass at 6:30 p.m., at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 5225 N Himes Ave., Tampa, FL. The Rite of Committal (Burial) will take place at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 10, 2025 at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 5233 118th Ave. N., Clearwater. Family and friends are invited to an open house at the Kearney residence following the burial.
