Jimmy D. Riley, Jr, 40, of Wesley Chapel, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 in Tampa, Florida. He was born on July 23, 1980 in Bartow, Florida. He is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly; adored daughter Alyssa; grandmother Fern Riley; father and mother-in-law Bob and Debbie Lowe and brother-in-law Kevin Lowe.
Jimmy served in the United States Marine Corps as a Military Police Officer. After the Marines, Jimmy returned to Florida and became a certified Firefighter/Paramedic. He was a beloved Driver Engineer/Paramedic with Plant City Fire Rescue from 2004 until his retirement on February 2, 2021. He was also a long time Instructor at Hillsborough Community College, where he passed his vast knowledge on to future EMTs.
Jimmy was a dedicated husband and father who always put his family first. He was a selfless servant to his family, friends and community. He enjoyed spending his free time outdoors, whether on the water fishing or in the woods hunting.
A celebration of his life will take place on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Plant City, 3309 James L. Redman Pkway, Plant City 33566. The family will receive friends at the church two hours prior to the service from 9:00am-11:00am. Face masks are encouraged.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to several of the organizations that have been so supportive of the Rileys during Jimmy’s illness. These include Duke University Hospital-Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center; Enthusiasts for Hope; Hook A Hero Foundation; Inheritance of Hope; The Jack and Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation and Off-Road United Foundation.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jimmy’s Medical Team; including Doctors, Nurses and Ancillary Staff who took such great care of Jimmy. They would also like to thank Plant City Fire Rescue, Vince and Heather Kiffner, Anthony and Allison Fonseca from Station House BBQ and to all Fire/Rescue Departments throughout the state who supported the Rileys throughout Jimmy’s journey these last three years.
