Elizabeth “Ann” Bailey Sink Souther, age 77 of Dover, Florida, passed away on August 7, 2020. She was born on December 2, 1942, in Mobile, Alabama, to Esther Mae Bailey. At age seven, she moved with her mother to Thonotosassa, Florida and went to Hillsborough High School. She married Elmer Ray “Bud” Sink and after 9 years of marriage was widowed at age 25.
As a new widow, she went to work at the Bi-Lo grocery store in her hometown of Dover, Florida, and this is where she met her loving husband, Leon “Jack” Jackson Souther, Jr, and they were married on December 14, 1969. Ann raised her three children and worked part-time with her husband Jack in the grocery store. Since they were so passionate about health foods, they started a health food section in the grocery store in 1981 way before any other grocery stores were doing this. By 1987, Jack and Ann opened a health food store “Souther’s Natural Foods” and began to teach natural health and provide high quality and discounted health foods to their community until 2019 when they retired. Ann was an herbalist and a Certified Natural Health Professional, helping many people
achieve better health.
She is survived by three children, Kimberly Verbarg of Brandon, Donna Bryant nd her husband Bart Bryant of Winter Garden, and John Souther and his wife Kelley Souther of Lakeland; six grandchildren Timothy Pehrson and his wife Emily of Blanchard, Oklahoma; Mary Verbarg of Brandon, Lauren Burns and her husband Eric of Canton, Georgia; Moriah Verbarg of Brandon, Madalyne Souther of Lakeland and Kate Souther of Lakeland; three great grandchildren Adison Elisabeth, Ellie Grace and Baby Burns soon to arrive; and loving sisters Patsy Fowler and Wanda Bidwell of Dover.
Ann and Jack passed together on the same day, hand in hand. They were always together in life and wanted nothing more than to go to their Heavenly Father together. Ann had a beautiful heart and was a wise woman to all who knew her. She will forever be missed by many and forever held in our hearts. Her service will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida on August 18th at 11:00 am.
