

Doris Bethart died on March 25, 2020, peacefully in her sleep at age 94. She was born in Dothan, Alabama. She moved with her parents to Plant City Florida at age 4. She graduated from the historical Plant City High School, Class of 1944.
In 1945, when she was parking airplanes at Lodwick Field, Lakeland School of Aeronautics, as part of the greatest generation, she met and married her loving husband, Lt Col Edgar J Bethart, US Air Force, retired.
For 57 years she followed Ed around the world and raised their family. Ohio, New Mexico, Germany, Spain, Virginia, Puerto Rico, Washington, DC and spent their retirement in Plant City.
Doris was a retired bank manager of many years. She was a long time member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Plant City and involved in the Catholic Women's Guild as their treasurer. She worked as a Pink Lady volunteer at South Florida Baptist Hospital.
Doris lost her husband in 2003, then spent the remaining years focused on family. At age 90, she entered the memory care unit at Stone Ledge Manor of Thonotosassa, FL, where she continued to be quietly active with family until her last days. Family truly was everything to Doris.
She is survived by three children: Edgar J. Bethart, Jr of DeBary FL; Thomas H. Bethart and his wife Dottie of Plant City, FL; and Janet Bethart Maze and her husband Michael of Holmes Beach, FL; and by eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Doris Bethart will be buried at Oaklawn Cemetery in Plant City, Florida.
