VAN GORDEN, Betty Johnson, age 88, of Plant City, FL passed away on May 30, 2012 of Alzheimers. Betty was born in Monroe County, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Francis Johnson; her husband, Arthur F. Van Gorden; son, Arthur Van Gorden; and four brothers.
Survivors include her daughter, Janice (Donald) Jordan; son, Scott (Carol) Van Gorden; granddaughter, Kristy (Drew) Fleming, and grandsons Chad (Calley) Jordan, Jarrod (Cayla) Jordan; great grandchildren, Peyton, McKenna, Kaden, and Parker, and many nieces and nephews.
She was a proud graduate of LHS. She always said "We were the class that went to war." Betty never met a stranger and enjoyed conversations with anyone who would listen. She dearly loved her cats, taking in many strays. She loved the American Legion and the Moose Club. She was also a "War Bride'', loosing her first husband, Bronislaw Tuzin (Ronnie) in WWII. She was very proud when she became a beautician.
A funeral service will be held 11 am on Saturday, June 2, 2012, with visitation from 10 am to 11 am at Wells Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lakeland, FL.
