Born on June 22, 1948, in Magnolia, Mississippi, Steve was the beloved son of Eddie and Hazel Dawson, who preceded him in death. He lived a life defined by compassion, kindness, and a genuine love for people. He had a gentle soul and a giving heart—he wouldn’t hurt a soul and was always there with a kind word, a helping hand, or a warm smile.
Steve served his country honorably in the United States Army as a Vietnam veteran. After returning home, he went on to work as a dedicated mail carrier, retiring from the United States Postal Service after years of faithful service. Rain or shine, Steve delivered more than just mail—he delivered laughter, warmth, and a strong sense of community.
He was a loving father to three children, and his greatest joy in life was being surrounded by family. Steve had a great sense of humor and a uniquely warm personality that made people feel instantly at ease. He was a true lover of Westerns and classic TV shows.
Steve’s legacy is one of selflessness, strength, and quiet grace. He was people-oriented, deeply compassionate, and a rare kind of kind—the kind that leaves a lasting mark.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his children, extended family, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Services for Steve will be held in Mississippi but are unscheduled at this time. The family will provide an update in the near future.
