Big Daddy Hal - heaven came too soon for you and you will be sincerely missed. Your generosity and genuine kindness is unmatched to anyone in this world. The best memories were coming over to the house every Friday before the rec center, cabana/pool on the weekends, and hanging out at the ranch. You and Mrs. Moss opened your house with open arms and treated us like family. We were all young hooligans without direction and doing typical teenager stuff but you did not judge us. You always carried a HUGE smile and I am extremely grateful to have known you. May you Rest In Peace. 

I was lucky enough to be a part of Garrett’s close circle of friends in High School. Meeting Garrett and his entire family made you immediately feel so loved and welcomed. Some people might have done a double take and wonder how Garrett came to have so many Asian friends (lol) but Mr. and Mrs. Moss never thought twice. They welcomed us with open arms, day after day, even as we ransacked their pantry and ate all their food (Vienna sausages with hot sauce, anyone?). They truly treated us like one of their own. I was from California and relatively new to Texas at the time I met the Moss family, and I would stare in awe at Hal, who looked like a real life cowboy with his tall stature, hat, boots, and drawl. He was truly one of the most amazing people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He had a winning smile and a hearty laugh that lit up the room. My heart breaks at the thought of his passing. He will be  sorely missed.

We are so saddened by the loss of Hal.  I have always felt that the Moss family is so blessed to have Hal in their lives.  He was the epitome of generosity and welcomed anyone into his home with opened arms.  I have fond memories of the pool parties at the cabana, and getaways at the ranch.  All of it was possible because of his big heart, and you can see that same trait in his children too.  He would always make us smile and laugh, and just have a way to make you feel like you’re family too.  We will miss him dearly and will cherish the memories always.

I have so many good memories of Hal and our group of friends. We became friends in middle school and were always together and were like brothers. We grew up and stayed close till the end. Hal was always the funniest person I ever knew and told the best stories. He had a special talent he could always make everyone laugh and he really liked everyone he was a very loved person. As we got older every time we went anywhere there was always someone that he new and would always stop and Reminisce about the things they did and always had a good  story to tell.  He always had a way of making people feel good. Knowing Hal and being together was always an amazing and fun he was the most caring and giving person even when he got sick it was  a pleasure being with him. He will be very much missed his humor will live on in our hearts and never be forgotten. I will always cherish the time that I spent with him he was a great man good friend and touched everyone he came into contact with throughout his life.   

I always smile when I think of Hal. Always kind and thoughtful.  Loved spending time with him, Mark, Donna and Sharon at Cowgirl Camp.  Rest in peace Hal. Xoxo Susan

I cannot express the great sadness I feel for the loss of Hal -- for Brad, for Mark  and for Robin...and for Hal's children, grandchildren and his friends.

He & I grew up together and we experienced, if not caused,  hundreds of shenanigans.  I've known Hal, and the Moss', since the age of 1.  
We grew up, learned what we know about social skills and appropriateness -- by trial & error, by successes and achievements, by more laughs and odd situations.  Meandering Way had that thing about it that pulled dozens of kids together to play, learn and grow up -- and Hal was smack in the middle of it all.

I have countless memories of all of you, but most especially of Hal.  I've spoken of Hal over all of these decades, so much so that his name has become a staple among my husband, children & friends.

And every memory begins with, 
"Ok, So Hal and I....'

...then usually ends with my getting chased by wasps, stitches at the emergency room, getting caught trying to sneak back into the house, etc...

The one big thing I take from that time with Hal, is my sense of adventure -- my gumption to just put myself out there, try new adventures, do anything just because I want to... And not wait for someone else to come along.

The memories I am reading from long time & new friends nail the essence of Hal - and they make me smile so widely to see that he is the same "Hal" that I knew - only taller & older.

You cannot grow up next to a family like the Moss' and not feel you are just as much family to myself.  Please accept my condolences.

Greg and Hal were like brothers. I'd sit and listen to their funny stories and we would laugh so hard. When Greg went on ahead, Hal would come around to check on me just to see if I needed anything, me and Greg's daughter and Greg's mother...just to make sure we were alright. He was a good character. He will be missed by many. I know Greg was waitin at the gate saying  "Come on dawg...let's go fishin" 😌

Hal was the kindest, most generous, and one of the happiest people in my family's life we knew. The moss family where our neighbors for numerous years, and all of the family where always lovable to our family. Hal would come through the back yard to our house and on the patio, and say I am here party started......Hal was just one of the best. We will cherish all the great moments we spent with him, as well as his family. 

So many times he'd put me in the passenger seat of one of his big trucks and drive me around to all the job sites they were working on. He always had a big ole smile on his face and knew how to put one on mine too. His home was always open to me, and so was his heart. 

Listening to my favorite brother-in-law burp to the tunes of Scooby-Doo as well as Yogi the Bear's "yabba dabba doo"!
