Patricia Kay Atkins Colley was born on Dec. 17, 1947 in Gilmer, Texas to Charles and Jeanette Atkins.
She graduated from Paris High School in 1966 and later attended Texas A&M in Commerce where she received a Bachelor of Science in 1970. Later, she earned a Master of Education from the University of South Carolina in 1987.
While an undergraduate student, she met Jackie W. Colley from Mt. Vernon, Texas and they married in May 1969. Jack joined the U.S. Army and Pat traveled with he and their children throughout the United States and abroad. Pat was able to teach at all of these locations, retiring from the Killeen Independent School District in 2007.
Pat became a member of The Heights church in 2011 after moving to Dallas when her husband passed away a year earlier. Pat was a member of the Singing Saints choir and volunteered with vacation Bible school as well as other children’s music activities – all of which brought her great joy. She also attended numerous Bible study and fellowship groups.
Her motto was, “Tell everyone that you love them now and fill a room with laughter because it is good for the soul.”
Pat is survived by her son Chris, daughter-in-law Marcy and their children Jake and Ryleigh. She also leaves behind her daughter Jennifer D’Illard, son-in-law Adam and their daughter Lovey.
Pat loved life and people. She encouraged everyone to spread the gospel so we can all live in a more united and peaceful world.
