Martha was born March 25, 1936 in Arab, Alabama to General Washington Hill and Datesy Parker Hill.
She had 12 siblings and several nieces and nephews she grew up beside. Her best friend for life was Jan.
As mom stated, “we never had an argument and she was the best sister ever”! At 16, she moved to Dallas and lived with Uncle Dap and Aunt Mary. She worked and Sears for a time while finishing High School. She also worked as a model, showing off the highest fashions Neiman-Marcus had to offer.
In 1956, she fell in love with and married Finis (Stooks) Stooksberry. They bought their first home (1957) in Richardson, TX. They had a son, Marty, born in 1964. We moved to Garland in 1976 and without knowing it, began a successful business in Real Estate. They moved to Plano in 1987 and made it the final move. They welcomed a grandson, Leo DiPietro in 1990. Leo spent many days with Nana and Papa. She reminded Leo to brush his teeth good every day. She also enjoyed making Leo the special PB&J that he loved and he still makes them the same for his kids, Fiona & Luke, The Great Grandkids!
Martha lost her husband in 2018 after nearly 62 years of marriage. She was always independent and insisted she could take care of herself. That was true until 2023 when mom moved to Sunrise Senior Living of Plano. She loved the whole staff and I believe they loved her back.
Mom passed away December 17, 2024 with her son and Nurse Ty by her side. She is survived by 1 sister, Faye Morrow of Arab, AL. Son Marty, grandson Leo DiPietro and his wife Stacy & their 2 kids Fiona and Luke. Daughter in law April Stooksberry of Argyle, TX. Numerous nieces and nephews that includes, Reta, Billy, & Tony and many many more.
