John was born on March 9, 1943 in Pilot Point, Texas, and later adopted by Dan Scott and Doris George. After the death of both parents, John was raised by his aunts Virginia Scott and Vivian Scott at the Scott family farm in Greyson County. John attended high school at the Masonic Home in Fort Worth, spent time at the University of Texas at Austin and served in the United States Marine Corps. John married Janice Marie Johnson just over 50 years ago and recently celebrated their golden anniversary. He enjoyed his family and relationships developed over his many years spent in Sherman, Houston, Rockwall and Wylie Texas, as well as a brief time in Bristow, Virginia. John was a proud citizen, but especially so of his home state of Texas.
John is survived by his wife, Janice Marie, daughter Johnna Leah Eaton and her husband John Mark Eaton, grandson Matthew Eaton and his wife Jordon, granddaughter Whitney Byers and her husband Landon, grandson Jacob Eaton, great-grandchildren Gia Eaton and Audrey Eaton, brother George Scott and his wife Jeannette, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

John was a United States Marine Corps veteran and loved many family pet dogs over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family would request a contribution towards one of John’s favorite charities; the Wounded Warrior Project (https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/) and the SPCA (https://spca.org/).
