Mr. John Andrew Daley

John Andrew Daley passed away on October 23rd at the age of 70 in Plano, TX. He was born March 8th, 1940 in Queens, NY to Tillie Peleschak and John M. Daley and was raised in the Catholic faith. He graduated in 1958 from Martin Van Buren High School in Queens Village, NY and then served in the Air Force from March of 1959 to May of 1962. He worked for JCPenney for 35 years from 1966-2001 in information technology. His career with JCPenney started in Manhattan, NY until 1974 when he transferred to Dallas, TX to open a systems center. He was a hard working, bright and dedicated man and loved by many of his co-workers.

John was married to his loving wife, Patricia Rae Wertz on December 27th of 1976 and they enjoyed life fully together for 34 years. He loved her dearly and was blessed to have her in his life. He is also survived by son Daniel Daley and grandson Leon John Daley of Plano, daughter Marie A. Georgopulos, son-in-law Peter Georgopulos and granddaughter Jena Georgopulos of McKinney, TX, daughter Patrice Daley of Mesquite TX, sister Rita Contreras of Baltimore, MD and many other loving relatives.

John’s hobbies were woodworking and hunting. He enjoyed many trips with his son-in-law and friends to hunt deer in Texas. He also enjoyed playing games with his family, having bar-b-ques, collecting movies, guns and John Wayne memorabilia. He enjoyed life to its fullest and never let his diabetes dictate his quality of life. He was loved much and will be remembered by all as a strong, courageous man with a will to live on his own terms.

John’s wake will be held at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, 2128 18th St., Plano Wednesday, October 27th , 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Thursday, October 28th, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 West Spring Creek Pkwy., Plano 75023. Reverend Henry Petter presiding. The Committal Service will be Thursday, 1:00 p.m., Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery, Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dallas. Donations on John’s behalf may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, the National Kidney Foundation or Christian Childrens Fund.
