Jerry Don Gibson

On Friday, July 23, 2021, Jerry Gibson left this world peacefully to enter his eternal heavenly home. Jerry was born on October 20, 1941 in Warren, AR to John Will and Frankie Lillian Gibson. He received his collegiate degree from the University of Arkansas at Monticello (which he lovingly called by its previous name of Arkansas A&M) and was a member of the Warren Masonic Lodge. He began his business career at Texas Instruments in Dallas where he also met his future wife, Gloria June Gibson. Jerry then began a brief service in the Air Force teaching Crypto in San Antonio as well as mathematics in a local high school.

Jerry loved to hunt and fish as well as spending time at the farm tending and growing his cattle business. Jerry was known for his wisdom and business instincts that carried him far through the years. This instinct helped him to attain many prestigious titles and accolades such as Sr. Vice President of World Wide Operations (DSC in Plano), President & CEO of Telserve his own private telecommunication company, CEO of a Fortune 500 Company (Value Added Communications), Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award, and Distinguished Recognition in The National Management Association.

He served on several boards and trustee positions, served his church as a deacon and his city in politics at a local level in Parker, TX. His natural eye and instinct for quality cattle produced accolades through the Maine Anjou Cattle Association such as President of the Association, Breeder of the Year, Seed Stock Producer of the Year, Maine Man of the Year, and through the years several back-to-back Grand Champions and Reserve Champions. He was also named the 37th Distinguished Alumnus of the year along with his brother John Wayne Gibson at their college alma mater. But the best titles and accolades he loved and was known for were that of friend, encourager, investor, counselor, mentor, son, brother, husband, dad, and papa.

He was known for his love of music and singing from his longtime involvement in his church choirs as well as participating with the Singing Men of Texas in concerts and on mission trips to the Ukraine. He had a quick wit, infectious smile, and a compassionate giving spirit.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, John Will, his mother, Frankie Lillian, a sister Martha, a mother-in-law Velma Prestage, and a brother-in-law Jim Haupt. He is survived by his wife June Gibson, his two sons Jay (Ashlee) Gibson, Judd (Marla) Gibson, a sister Linda Haupt, a brother John Wayne (Martha) Gibson, a brother Sam (Judy) Gibson, a brother-in-law Jerry (Kay) Mara, several grandchildren Joel, Alexis, Courtney, Jeremy, Cheyanne, Jacob, Haylee, and a great granddaughter Adalynn, as well as by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the Chapel at The Heights Church located at 201 W Renner Rd, Richardson, TX at 1:00 PM. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Jerry to the Singing Men of Texas, to Bartimaeus Baptist Temple in Dallas (a church to the challenged), or to the American Cancer Society.
