She died from natural causes on October 11, 2016, in Plano.
She was much beloved and admired by her family and everyone who knew her.
Survivors are daughter Carolyn Krusac and husband Paul, son Edward Robert Dougherty III and wife Louise, Grandchildren Michael Wing, Deborah Nelson (Owen), Heather Hassell (Chris), Diane Larsen (Mark), Bryan Wing (Jessie), nephew Larry Burton (Debbie).
Grandson Sean Dougherty preceded her in death in 1990. She had 10 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandsons.
Frances married Edward R. Dougherty, Jr. (Bob) in October of 1939 - a marriage that lasted for 58 years until Bob died on Christmas Eve, 1997.
Since her own mother had died when Frances was a teenager, she became very close to her mother-in-law Louise, who guided her into becoming the wonderful adult she was.
Frances worked as a secretary for the U.S. government in Washington, D.C. and Virginia, and retired with her husband to Maui, HI, where they lived for 23 years.
She became proficient in hula dancing and playing the ukulele, and performed publically with various groups in Maui.
Frances and Bob were very active in their church in Hawaii as Communion Ministers and in teaching after-school religious education. After Bob's death she moved to Plano in April 1999, to be closer to family. She was very active at the Plano Senior Center, both taking classes and teaching hula until her early 90s when age finally slowed her down and she moved into an assisted living facility.
A Mass will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church, located at 1201 Alma Drive, Plano, TX 75075. The rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you remember Frances in your prayers.
Private inurnment will be held at Mary Immaculate Catholic Community in Farmers Branch.
