Dorothy Samuel was born in CHAK 133-16L (Amrit Nagar), Pakistan. Her father, Martin Samuel was the Numberdar (mayor) of that village at that time. She was the sixth child, third girl, which was born into her family. In total, she had eight siblings, three sisters and five brothers, giving her parents a total of nine children. She was often known as the child who loved to go to school and gain knowledge.
However, more than school, she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with her full heart. Dorothy wanted to become a nun, but was denied permission by her father and brothers to become one. She was so set on becoming a nun that she decided that she was going to never marry anyone and settle down as a school teacher. Dorothy greatly enjoyed her occupation as a math teacher in Rawal-Pindi; in fact she did her job so well, that she was promoted to headmistress in a couple of years. She would always claim she never ever missed a math problem and would always get a 100% on her tests. She also was fluent in five languages: Urdu, Punjabi, Farsi, English, and Arabic.
Since she had been denied permission to become a nun, and did not want to marry at all, her eldest brother placed his second son, Javed Samuel, in her lap and said, “Take him. He is your son and he will take care of you.”
Dorothy enjoyed her time in America. She loved to eat fresh fruit. It never mattered what kind of fruit there was, she loved every kind of fruit. She also loved to eat sweets. She would often request her grandkids to bring her a Large Vanilla Milkshake from Sonic.
Dorothy was a kind, gentle-spirited woman who always prayed for everyone. She was a very religious and God-fearing individual. She never kept hatred in her heart for anyone. Her hobbies included, watching TBN (John Hagee was her favorite Pastor) and Urdu Dramas, playing with her Grandchildren, teaching her family about the bible, and telling stories to her family about the olden days. She would always say, “Jesus is coming, be prepared”.
Dorothy was a huge blessing for her whole entire family and will be missed dearly. Her true desire in life was to be with Jesus. Without a doubt, she achieved her desire. On September 4th, 2015 at 3:13pm Dorothy Phupho left us to go be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She passed away at her residence, surrounded by her loved ones.
This bible verse describes her outlook on life.
2 Timothy 4:6-8
For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness ,which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
