Denelda K Cobb, age 82, of Allen, Texas passed away on March 19, 2025. Born Denelda Kaye Richardson, August 28, 1942, in Moberly, Missouri, she graduated from high school in Liberty, Missouri in 1960. After some college she began her career as a bookkeeper, and after a short marriage ended, she and her child moved to the Chicago area. She renewed her acquaintance with her teen sweetheart, David Earl Cobb and they combined their families in 1969. After living in El Paso and Germany, the Cobb family began civilian life in Plano Texas. After being widowed at 35, Denelda raised her three children, survived her first bout with Lymphoma, and eventually retired from JC Penney headquarters. Although she spent a few years in Illinois and Nantucket, Massachusetts, she returned to the Allen-McKinney area to finish retirement.
Denelda is survived by her sister, Cheryl Esbrook; her 3 children, David Wade Cobb, David “Brian” Cobb, and Lesa Marie Slay (Dan Slay); by 5 grandchildren, Danielle “Niki” Yarborough, Phillip Slay, Courtney Moulton, Sarah Cobb, and Logan Cobb, and by 5 great-grandchildren.
Denelda enjoyed traveling, quilting, cross stitch, and reading. She was supported in faith by both Meadows Baptist Church and several United Methodist Churches. Family will remember her generosity, strong work ethic, her faith, and determination in adversity.
A funeral service for Denelda will be held Monday, March 24, 2025 at 10:00 AM, at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, 2128 18th Street, Plano, TX 75074, with Visitation afterwards until 1:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at Plano Mutual Cemetery.
