In both her profession and in life she was a perpetual teacher. She earned her doctoral degree from Texas A &M-Commerce. She taught students at all levels, from kindergarten through college. Her last job was as an education professor at TWU preparing the next generation of teachers. She loved being around children, helping them explore and discover life. When she wasn’t in the classroom her special interests were being with her family, gardening, decorating, and shopping. She was known for her creativity and determination.
Ms. Ponder is survived by husband Loran Loots, her three daughters Sherri Thomas, Vicki Townsend, Lori Johnson, and 10 grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Lois Jean Hellstern, Sue Criner, Cheryl Kerr and brother Jerry Van Buskirk. Funeral Services are 2 p.m. Friday, February 4 at Ted Dickey Funeral Home in Plano, Texas. Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 5 at 2 p.m. at Morrison Cemetery in Morrison, Oklahoma.
