Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done for us through His servant Connie Telschow.
Connie Marie Telschow was born in Plano, Texas on April 8, 1981, to David and Linda Askins. On May 10, 1981, she received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God at Faith Lutheran Church in Plano.
On May 7, 1995, she was confirmed in the Christian faith and was fed the precious gift of the Lord’s life-giving body and blood at Faith Lutheran Church in Plano. Her confirmation verse was Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
She attended Faith Lutheran School through the eighth grade and was homeschooled in high school, during which she was very active in Ongoing Ambassadors for Christ. She then attended Concordia University, Nebraska where she received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and a Lutheran Teacher Diploma. Following graduation in 2003, she served in the teaching ministry in Oregon and in Texas, teaching both preschool and third grade. Connie was a talented and dedicated educator who loved children and found great joy in sharing the love of Jesus with her students and their families. While teaching at St. Paul Lutheran School in Austin, she met Jonathan Telschow. They were married at on July 2, 2010 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Austin.
Connie was called to teach Kindergarten at Faith Lutheran School in Plano in 2011, and she served countless students and their families at the school until 2020, when she left teaching to pursue her long-awaited dream of being a stay-at-home mom. She loved many things in this life including movie nights with Jon, peppermint hot chocolate, “Friends,” her extensive book collection, “I Love Lucy,” and chips with white queso, but above all she loved worshipping with and spending time with her husband and children.
On the 1st of October, Connie fell asleep in Jesus, with whom she waits for the resurrection of all flesh. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” (Psalm 116:15)
Connie was preceded in death by two dearly loved pre-born babies and her loving grandparents. She is survived by devoted husband Jon, loving children Jonathan Alec James, Elliana Rose Marie, Catherine Claire Renee, Gabriel David Joseph and Matthew Hubert Thomas, parents David and Linda Askins, brother Rev. Roy Askins (Eliza), sister Chrystie Askins, brother Jordan Askins (Mandy), 12 loving nieces and nephews and countless family, former students, and many others who will miss her sweet smile, her determined personality, her loving nature, and her faith-focused, positive outlook.
