She married her husband of 65 years, Lawrence Ervin Brockman Jr. in 1956, they lived in many different locations throughout the country while Lawrence was an officer serving in the U.S. Air Force. They settled in Richardson, Texas in 1980. Together they raised 5 children Susan Brockman of Heber City, UT, Ken Brockman of Plano, TX, Stephen Brockman (Cheri) of Miamisburg, OH, Bill Brockman(Trish) of Wylie, TX, Anne Staley(Jay) of Wylie, TX. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 gg-grandson and sisters Theresa Lyle(Bay City), Josephine Gassen(Oklahoma City). She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings; Margaret Robinson, Henry Gassen, Bart Gassen, Paul Gassen, and her sister Cecilia.
Bernadette graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Okarche, Oklahoma, in 1953, where she was a cheerleader and enjoyed participating in the school theater. She met her sweetheart at the pool in Bay City, Texas while visiting family. After marriage, Bernadette was a dedicated mother and homemaker. She was a proud Air Force wife that kept the family running while Lawrence was serving abroad. She loved the military life, raising her family and was a gracious hostess entertaining the many Air Force family friends. Bea was a very creative and artistic individual and made each home they lived in beautiful and comfortable for her family. In her younger years, she volunteered with the Red Cross as a coordinator, served at her children's school in the PTA, and also worked in interior design, once again using her talents to make things beautiful. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to bridge clubs where ever she lived. Bea was also a long-time member of the Richardson Women’s Club.
Her sense of humor and laughter will remain in the hearts of many. Bea will be remembered as a kind, giving, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be truly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 26, at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, 2128 18th Street, Plano, TX.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM.
The Graveside Service will be at the Dallas National Cemetery and will be for immediate family due to current restrictions.
