Barbara left her earthly life on December 3, 2010 @ 9:50 pm. Barbara was born on November 10, 1938 in Calvin, Oklahoma to Thelma Catherine Williams Cunningham and Clarence “Buddy” Homer Cunningham, the fourth child and the fourth girl in a family of eight children. Barbara graduate from Wewoka High School, Wewoka, OK. She graduated from Oklahoma’s College for Women in Chickasha, OK. On August 12, 1961 she married Homer Leroy Forsythe, Jr. in Holdenville, OK. She is survived by her husband, Homer of Plano, TX; her son, Robert Anthony “Tony” Forsythe of McKinney, TX; his wife Susan and daughter, Desiree’ Rene’; son William Clarence Forsythe of Murphy, TX, his wife, Cynthia, and children; Duncan Alexander, Meredith Skye, and Samuel Avery; son Michael Joseph Forsythe of Austin, TX; his wife Renee’ and children: Lucas Fortna, Mitchell Anthony, Maria Michele, and Arianna Cloeise. Barbara Forsythe was preceded in death by her parents, his sister Neva Floy Alt, three brothers, Buddy Addison Cunningham, his twin, Bryant Homer Cunningham, and John Dennis Cunningham. She is survived by two sisters, Velda Ruth Cunningham Hough, Enide Lu Cunningham Adair, and one brother, David Lee Cunningham, first cousins Charles Elliot Doggett and Robert Duane Doggett and William Howard McKnight and numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara was and Homer is members of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Plano, TX. Barbara taught English and Poetry at Putnam City Original High School in OKC, OK. In addition to a full time teaching job Barbara worked as an executive secretary. She was a legal secretary for Leo Winters and an administrative assistant for Buss Cloud in Oil and Gas. After the family relocated to Texas, Barbara taught at Spring Creek school in Houston, TX and Plano High School, Plano, TX. After Barbara retired from teaching, she started a career that focused on writing - she did technical writing for the computer industry, a free-lance editor for a variety of writers and poets, and taught poetry for adult education. Barbara was an excellent poet and writer herself.
Viewing will be held on Sunday December 5, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ted Dickey Funeral Home in East Plano. A Rosary Service will be held at Sevier Funeral Home in Chickasha, OK Monday December 6, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. Mass will be at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Chickasha, Oklahoma at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday December 7,2010.
