Dominick Valenza of Plainview, NY passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 26, 2023. He was born on March 6, 1958 to Joseph and Sandra Valenza. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara and the lights of his life, daughters Samantha and Brianna.
Dom grew up in Whitestone, NY attending St. Luke School, Thomas Edison High School and graduating from St. John’s University. He devoted his life to his family, his friends and his community. From organizing softball tournaments in Whitestone, to coaching soccer in Hicksville, Dom was always facilitating fun for the rest of us.
Dom was driven by giving. His generosity was unmatched–sharing his spirit, time, and creativity with all who came in contact with him. Everyone who ever met him said of him, “What a great guy.”
Dom’s outgoing personality, passion for the Jets, sports, Springsteen and celebrations will never be forgotten. He lived as a model for what truly embracing life looks like–loving your family, living well, enjoying the moments, and caring for the community. He made a difference for so many, and the space he leaves in our hearts will remain unfilled forever.
Dominick will be profoundly missed by his family, his parents, his sisters Stacey, Sherry, and Suzanne along with her children Theo and Amelia Goodman, brother-in-law George DeMerit, mother-in-law Hedy Oleschuk, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Catherine and Daniel Casella and their daughters Alexandria and Catrina, and brother-in-law Richard Oleschuk.
A Memorial Visitation for Dominick will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Home, 655 Old Country Rd, Plainview, New York 11803. A Memorial Mass for Dominick will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius X R.C. Church, 270 Washington Avenue, Plainview, New York 11803.
