I had worked for SO CAL GAS at the old mission Viejo base from March of 1977 on when Tom was one of my bosses during those years.  We were like close family back then and mission Viejo was just starting to be built out.
We had a major meter project going in a huge 4 street complex and the mtrs were to be installed inside cabinets on the garage side. The builder did not outfit or inclose the cabinets correct and if there was a gas leak the house was in danger. We told Tom about what we were encountering and asked for help.
Tom approached the builder and told him to retrol fit those and bring them up to safety standards. Builder refused and said the gas company was now responsible for that. Tom then proceeded to shut down the whole project putting other trades at risk of not completing finishing the building of houses. 
Two weeks later the builder did what Tom had asked. 
My point is TOM LOOKED AFTER HIS MEN FOR THEIR WELL BEING.
I really miss TOM. he was truly one of the best bosses a super human being.
May the family take solace in knowing he had a hand in changing lives. He was really a great mentor.

Tom left a lasting mark on my life. I think fondly of the time I spent with him when he was a So Cal Gas Co base supervisor in Mission Viejo  Ca.  When I speak with other service employees that he managed they all share how he was by far their favorite supervisor. Toms kindness and ability to motivate was special and I personally have yet to meet another gentle man like him.
