Ronald Edward Cunha, born November 3, 1938, passed from this world on July 21, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Half Moon Bay where he resided until 1998 when he moved to the Pollock Pines area. Ron graduated from Half Moon Bay High School where he was active on the basketball and baseball teams. He was a working member of the Carpenters Union for 30 years at which time he retired. He also was a co-owner of the famous Cunha Country Store in Half Moon Bay.
Ron's interests revolved around hunting, fishing and sports. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy Cunha; sister Beverly Ashcraft; nephews Mark Ashcraft and Michael Cunha; and nieces Darla Dempsey and Rachelle Nolan. Also surviving are his step-children, Max DeVos, Babette Korn and Theresa Wilber.
Ron was loved by so many family members and friends and will be terribly missed. There will be a Memorial Service held on Saturday, August 25, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home, 2855 Cold Springs Rd., Placerville, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Snowline Hospice of El Dorado County, Inc., 6520 Pleasant Valley Rd., Diamond Springs, CA 95619.
