Born January 13, 1943 in Palo Alto, California to George and Alice (Nunes) Sanchez, Richard grew up in Mountain View, California where he attended Highway Elementary School and Mountain View High School. In 1967, he married Sharon Malone and they lived in Sunnyvale and San Jose, where they raised four sons.
In 2004, Richard retired from Foster Bros. Security Systems in Sunnyvale after 38 years with the company. Richard and Sharon moved to Placerville, California in 2005.
Richard was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially after retiring and moving to the beautiful foothills of the Sierra-Nevada Mountains. Most days you could find him either fishing at a mountain lake, kayaking or gold panning. Even at home he loved being outside working in the yard. But his passion was his tools and being in the garage. He always had a project going, whether it was wood working, welding or creating metal art.
Richard is survived by his wife, Sharon (Malone) Sanchez; his sons Gregory, Steven and Christopher Sanchez, Perry Matias and Danny Sanchez; his six grandchildren; daughters-in-law Michelle (King) Sanchez, Michelle (Beecher) Sanchez and Angela (Froemmling) Sanchez; his step-father Hip Telmont; and his siblings Ronald Sanchez, Loretta Frates, Marlene Fischer, Karen Angus, Joseph Brongiel and Diane Day. He was preceded in death by his son Mark Sanchez, mother Alice (Nunes) Telmont, father George Sanchez and step-mother Lavergne Sanchez.
A celebration of Richard's life will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at Hayes Mansion in San Jose. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at: http://act.alz.org/goto/Richard_Sanchez.
