The lord came calling on December 11, 2010 to take a very special lady home with him. Phyllis Romaine Hodgkin passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on a beautiful sunny winter’s day. She lost a courageous battle with throat cancer, just 2 days after her 81st birthday.
Phyllis was a very funny, strong, caring, loving, devoted daughter, wife, sister, mother and most of all, grandmother.
Born on December 9, 1929 to Louisa and Lewis Dell in Gorseinon Wales, she had grown up during many tragedies of the world and through it she found the love of her life. Kenneth Leigh Hodgkin was an US Air Force pilot stationed overseas. They fell in love and married in 1958. They were married for 44 years until his passing in April 2002 at the age of 85. Phyllis would tell us wonderful stories in the last few weeks before she passed. Ones of which was her riding her bicycle down a hill and went out of control into a very large Irish foreman yelling at his crew when she was 15, another was taking her 3 young kids Christmas tree shopping in Elk Grove chasing Curt through the trees. There are so many more stories we wished we could have heard but God needed his angel home.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Leigh Hodgkin and is survived by her sister Sheila Dell Peterson, Daughters: Joanne Hodgkin-Hight (Eugene Hight) Susan Hodgkin-Gardner (Eduard Eichhorn) Son: Curtis Lee Hodgkin (Michelle Hodgkin) Grandson: Justin Curtis Hodgkin Granddaughter: Marlene Romaine Hodgkin
Step-grandson: Andrew Alfonso. Nephew’s: Steve Peterson, Craig Peterson Niece: Laura Peterson
Mom you will be greatly missed and there are no words to express how much you meant to all of us, we love you mom, tell dad we miss him too!
Often in our thoughts, forever in our hearts may God bless you and keep you until we are reunited once again. In loving memory from all her family and friends.
