Louise lost her courageous battle with COPD, passing away peacefully in the early autumnal morning, at the age of 81.
Louise, as her family and friends called her, left many friends and family behind, including her loving and devoted husband Merlin Scott, her sons David and Darren Taylor, step daughters Shirley Fox and Debra Silva, sisters Diane, and Sandra, and brother Ronnie, as well as many beloved grandchildren , nieces, nephews and cousins, in addition to her dearest friend Laura Dumont and her husband Jay, and numerous friends from a life well lived.
Louise was born in Monterey Park, Los Angeles county, to Irene and Cecil Posten. She was a bright and active student at Montebello High School, involved in Band, choir and other various student activities. Her involvement in social activities carried through into her adulthood, where she was involved with Eldorado search and rescue, the Rubicon trail , and as a volunteer in hers sons elementary schools activities.
She married Jack Taylor in 1958, having three active sons together. They moved their family to Placerville in 1970, where Jack had a job opportunity to work at the lumber mill, and where Louise had many relatives in the area. In her youth she spent many vacation days visiting her family who resided in and around Placerville. She remained married to Jack Taylor until 1978.
Louise joined the El Dorado Sheriff’s Department in 1974 as a reservist, then in 1976 became a Deputy #2, Custodial Officer, then eventually went on to work in the jail. She loved her career , and it was this career path that lead her to the man who would eventually become her husband, a Sergeant in the Sheriff’s department, Merlin (Scotty) Scott. They married in 1980, residing in Somerset living 41 happy years in their home they created together.
Louise had a very upbeat, happy and positive personality. Life was never boring to her, as she traveled to exotic destinations on her annual cruises with her good friend Pam. She loved the outdoors and camping. She also excelled at gardening, crafting, sewing and making baby blankets for all who had babies. Spending time with family at annual outings to Apple Hill in the autumn, and in December going with the grandkids to Tyler’s Christmas tree farm in Grizzly flats were some of the best memories, as were her eagerly anticipated Christmas dinners, where her killer culinary skills were enjoyed by all.
Louise and Merlin were heavily involved with the Rubicon trail where Jeeping, camping, trail care and maintenance were part of their lives for over four decades. She and Merlin have a cabin on Spider lake where they spent many summers helping other campers and Jeepers. She loved her weekly dinners at her best friend Laura’s home where they enjoyed watching Survivor. But perhaps her favorite moments were spending quiet evenings, siting side by side holding hands with her love Merlin, watching Gunsmoke, all 20 seasons.
Louise’s memory will be cherished and always live in those who loved her. She will be deeply missed. Louise was proceeded in death by her eldest son Daniel Taylor.
